About Marc-Anthony Massaro

Marc-Anthony Massaro (b. 1953, New Haven, CT) is an accomplished painter, sculptor and educator. His career began in 1971 when, as a senior in high school, he began drawing and painting portraits professionally and also worked as a freelance commercial artist/illustrator for numerous businesses in the New Haven area. After graduating from high school and receiving the Gabriel Luchetti art scholarship award, he continued working as a freelance artist, financing his college education through portrait commissions and commercial art accounts.
His experience and professional status as a portrait/fine artist spans over forty years. His portraits and fine art are in numerous private collections throughout the United States, France, Germany and Italy.
In 1989, he embarked on his teaching career. As an adjunct professor, he taught sculpture at Albertus Magnus College (New Haven, CT), instructed drawing and painting classes at the Tabor Community Art Center (Branford, CT), conducted art classes for the Branford, and Guilford adult education programs and, for thirteen years, was a faculty member of the Guilford Art Center (Guilford, CT) where he taught drawing, painting, sculpture and portraiture.
In 2002, he opened his own school, the Branford Art Studio, where he and his faculty conduct classes dedicated to the traditional instruction of the drawing, painting and sculptural processes. As an example of the high artistic standards Marc-Anthony Massaro has always adhered to, the Branford Art Studio has been selected for two consecutive years, by the Shoreline Newspaper’s “best of the shoreline” readers’ poll as one of the best art schools on the Connecticut coast line.
